MH Strategies 2 includes improvements to two established Memphis communities, Venson Center and Borda Towers, bringing modern updates to 421 affordable apartment homes for residents ages 50 years and older.
The Memphis Housing Authority in partnership with Knight Development and local community partners spearheaded this effort to preserve affordable housing while upgrading comfort and reliability for senior residents. The renovations are made possible through a federal program called RAD (Rental Assistance Demonstration).
Apartments are being renovated with updated interiors, improved building systems, and energy-efficient features. Shared spaces are also being enhanced to create welcoming areas where residents can relax and connect with neighbors.
Venson Center at 439 Beale Street offers welcoming studio and one-bedroom apartments in a central Memphis location known for its historic character and close-knit atmosphere.
Borda Towers at 21 Neely Street provides comfortable high-rise living near neighborhood conveniences and public transportation, ideal for seniors who enjoy independence with support close by.
Together, these communities represent a brighter future for affordable senior housing in Memphis—a future rooted in care, dignity, and belonging.
